About this list

Club chess around Copenhagen is organised through Københavns Skak Union, the union of the Danish Chess Union's first district, whose register gives every member club an address, a playing venue and a playing night. Most clubs keep one or two fixed evenings a week from about seven o'clock and fill them with internal tournaments, team-league rounds and free games; juniors usually train in the hour before.

Inside the city the clubs belong to the old districts: Amager Skakforening at the culture house Prismen, Nørrebro Skakklub in cellar rooms on Frejasgade, Skakforeningen ØBRO on Rosenvængets Allé, Valby Skakklub at the Valby culture centre and Brønshøj Skakforening in the north-west. Frederiksberg has its own club as well as Skak for sjov, a teaching club with a salon open to all, and the ring of suburbs from Ballerup, Herlev and Hvidovre to Gentofte, Gladsaxe, Brøndby, Ishøj and Farum adds clubs of its own.
